Handcross

The Coffee Morning and Table Top Sale: last Saturday morning in aid of Handcross Ladies Association and Handcross Preschool was very well attended which was nice to see. At the time of writing the adding up hadn't been done so I will let you know how much was raised next week. All money raised will be split between the two local organisations. It is always good to see the Hall full of people enjoying themselves, especially younger families who will hopefully get more involved in hosting such events in the future.

Parish Hall: Contractors have now been appointed and it has been agreed that the Hall will be closed between 20 December 2018 and 31 January 2019 in order that they can do the work necessary to update the heating system, rewire and redecorate the Hall. Some work will begin from the start of December but this will take place around existing bookings. It is appreciated that this will cause some inconvenience for regular users but it hoped that they will bear with the Management Committee for this short period of time in order to reap the rewards of a warmer and brighter Hall at the end of it. With regard to the lease, things are moving on and I understand that terms have been agreed. It is a case of getting the paperwork done and fingers crossed, a new lease will be ready to be signed by all parties before Christmas. Once this has been done, I will of course let you know. Slowly but surely, everything seems to be coming together at long last!

Don’t forget the Christmas Craft Day: at the Hardware Shop in Saturday from 10 am until 3 pm. A lot of work has gone into making this a day for everyone to enjoy with biscuit decorating and card making just two of the five crafts you, your children and grandchildren can take part in. Soup and rolls will be on sale for your lunch as well as free mulled wine and mince pies to keep you going. There is a children’s competition for the best angel picture or collage with a prize going to everyone taking part. If you are not into crafting, don’t let this put you off going along as there will be Christmas paper and other items on sale at last year’s prices along with many Fairtrade Christmas cards, gifts and food. As always, if you would like more information, get in touch with Christina either in the Shop, on 400212 or by email at [email protected].

I have recently heard: that the Hardware Shop is offering somewhere warm, peaceful and quiet to work, with good lighting, tea and coffee and toilet facilities without having to leave the village! If this is something that you are interested in, and it can be booked on an hourly or daily basis, get in touch with Christina. I would imagine that a facility like this could be just thing if you work from home but struggle to find somewhere to hold a meeting if you don’t want to invite potential clients into your home. Do get in touch with Christina on 400212 to learn more of what is on offer.
