The Neighbourhood Planning Committee meeting earlier this month wasn't as well attended as it has been in the past but that could well have been due to the low temperatures on the night! However, it would appear that things are still moving in the right direction to get the Plan ready for review by the Parish. Meetings have been taking place with the various sub-groups of the Committee and there has been some input by Mid Sussex District Council to ensure they are heading in the right direction. One thing that has become apparent is that whilst they have all been working very hard, some '˜outside' assistance will be required from a consultant in order to make the final push but the meeting was assured that there were funds available to meeting this cost from both the Parish Council and MSDC. The only downside to the positive was if there is to be a referendum on membership of the EU, there will be a negative impact on any assistance that MSDC might be able to give. I believe the term is '˜purdah' and is when local and national government shuts down for the period before an election, or in this case, a referendum vote. Watch this space!

Don’t forget the Parish Council meets this evening in the Pavilion from 7.30 pm. Details of the agenda should be available on the Parish Council’s website (www.slaughampc.co.uk); alternatively, a copy is posted on the notice board outside the Spar Shop on the High Street, as well as the other village notice boards in the parish. At the time of writing, I don’t know if there will be any further news in relation to the proposed development by Hyde/Hallam and what the situation is with regard to the Parish Hall, but I shall be there myself to see if it is mentioned and will report back in a couple of weeks.
