ARE YOU aged 50 years plus and living in Mid Sussex? Do you need a little help to remain living in your own home? The Mid Sussex Older People’s Council are holding a drop-in event tomorrow (Friday) at Adastra Hall, Keymer Road from 9.30am to 3.30pm, where you’ll find everything you might need and more to help you stay living independently at home from adaptations, money and fuel energy advice, care and support. Representatives from various organisations will be on hand to assist.
LIGHT UP HASSOKS, It’s Christmas. The switch on of the Christmas lights takes place on Friday along Keymer Road. There’s a Children’s Parade at 4.20pm from The Hassocks to Villa Adastra. The Live Nativity will be outside the United Reformed Church from 5pm with Santa’s Grotto next door at Powell House. The Big Switch On of the lights takes place at 5.20pm and will be followed by various groups performing on the stage at National Tyres forecourt. There will be charity, craft and food stalls along Keymer Road, with a funfair and opportunities for late night shopping. To facilitate the safety of those attending, please note that Keymer Road will be closed to all traffic from 4pm to 7.30pm between Woodsland Road and Knight’s Budgens.
THERE’S LOTS of events taking place on Saturday November 28, starting with the Hassocks Village Market on National Tyres Forecourt between 9am and 1pm.
TRAIDCRAFT STALL: The Hassocks United Reformed Church will be holding its usual Traidcraft Stall in the forecourt of the Church from 10am to noon. There are lots of delicious foods etc. at competitive prices - and profit goes back to the producers of the goods - giving the Third World a better chance to improve their own lives. Coffee is served in the Foyer.
PAWS AND CLAWS Christmas Fair also takes place on Saturday from 10am to noon at the Adastra Hall. This popular event not only has many stalls, but offers a free mince pie with your coffee or tea. So do pop in to start off your seasonal shopping for Christmas gifts and cards, jewellery, toys, books, DVDs, jigsaws, clothes, household, delicious home made cakes, a big Christmas raffle and bumper tombola with a prize every time.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, the Downlands Community School Christmas Market will be at the school in Dale Avenue from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Raffle and tombola, Christmas Craft Stalls, Christmas refreshments and much more.
ON SUNDAY November 29 there’s an Advent Carol Service at 6pm at St Cosmas and St Damian Church, Keymer
DIARY DATES: Saturday December 12 sees The Magic of Christmas at the Adastra Hall in Keymer Road, when Friends and Neighbours host an afternoon of Christmas carols and songs (a little entertainment too) from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. Advance tickets at just £2.50, including refreshments, go on sale from Monday November 30 at Pavilion Electrics in Keymer Road or by ringing 01273 845291. This is always a friendly and enjoyable occasion and, to add to the excitement, there will be a Grand Christmas Raffle. Please come along and join us for a festive and enjoyable couple of hours.
On Sunday December 13 at the Greyhound Inn, Keymer from noon until 2pm there will be two hours of Christmas songs and carols, so please come along and join Friends and Neighbours to enjoy this festive lunchtime.
Take a first look at the Parish of Clayton with Keymer Christmas line up. They would love to see you over the festive period. There is the Christingle service with Christmas Tree Exhibition on 6th December. Our inaugural festival. Sponsored by local businesses and designed by the children at Downlands, this will be a fantastic event. Come along and tell us which your favourite tree is and winner will be announced during the service.
