Paul Milton hand drew a portrait of the prime minister, one of his most detailed pieces of art.

He was commissioned by Sainsbury’s to create a mural, which on completion he presented to 10 Downing street.

“I received a lovely letter complementing me on the mural,” Paul explained.

The prime minister sent him a signed photo to create his portrait, as his busy schedule prevented a meeting.

“It took a long time to draw I lost count of the hours spent on the drawing but all I wanted was it to be perfect,” Paul said.

“The main portrait resides in 10 Downing Street and is well liked,” he added.

Paul organised Balcombe Art Trail last month, and plans to expand the project next year.

The artist continued: “The support and compliments I’ve had about my art have been lovely and makes me proud of my country and government.”

A copy of the portrait has been archived with The National Portrait Gallery and can be seen by appointment.

Paul said: “I’ve been very lucky. I wouldn’t be at this stage of my career with out the kind support of old and new friends and family.

“I like to think nothing is unattainable or impossible if you put your mind to it.”
