Haywards Heath charity Kangaroos receive £1,000 donation from housebuilder

A Haywards Heath charity has received a funding boost which will support its work with children and young adults in and around Mid Sussex.

Kangaroos, a special needs charity which provides support and fun, social activities to youngsters with learning difficulties and additional needs, has been presented with a £1,000 donation.

The funding came from Barratt Homes, the housebuilder behind the Haywards Heath Wychwood Park development, via its Southern Counties Regional Community Fund programme.

It will enable Kangaroos to continue to provide emotional, social and practical support for families in need throughout the Mid Sussex area.

Lynnette St-Quintin, sales and marketing director for Barratt Southern Counties, said: “We are so pleased that thanks to our work at Wychwood Park we are able to support local charity Kangaroos as they provide much needed support to children and young adults with learning disabilities.

“As the country’s largest housebuilder, we are committed to creating a positive and lasting legacy, and are proud that we can work with inspiring charities such as Kangaroos.”

Barratt Southern Counties has also committed to supporting Kangaroos’ annual golf day in May, where the housebuilder will be the headline sponsor.

Kangaroos’ fundraising coordinator, Samantha Norgate, said: “We pride ourselves on being an established local charity with its heart in the community.

“We currently support over 240 families in and around Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and surrounding areas and last year (2019) was a very special one, as we celebrated our 25th Anniversary.

“We are extremely grateful to companies like Barratt Southern Counties who recognise their corporate social responsibility by helping to raise awareness and support organisations on their doorstep, like ours.”
