A Haywards Heath church is to reopen this Sunday following a major rebuilding project.

Chris Norden, minister at Haywards Heath Baptist Church in Sussex Road, said: “The church will reopen on Sunday (December 16), following a rebuilding project which has taken a year to complete.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming the local community into our new building.

“Our old premises served us well, but our new building will give us more opportunities to serve our town and to share the good news about Jesus Christ.

“When the demolition started last December, some people assumed we were closing down – but the opposite is the case!

“In fact we have continued to grow over the last year and are grateful to Warden Park Secondary Academy and the other churches in the town who have helped us with accommodation while our building has been unavailable.”

The new building is modern and spacious, and provides much-needed space for a growing church and for the many activities which go on there throughout each week, Mr Norden said.

The church is planning a full programme of Christmas services, including a carol service at 7pm on Sunday, December 23.

It is also holding two open days, on January 12, and January 26, for anyone who would like to visit and take a look around.

Haywards Heath Baptist Church has worshipped on its site for 25 years, and since 2012 it has hosted the Haywards Heath Foodbank in its neighbouring building.
