Mid Sussex District Council has teamed up with the Working Futures Partnership to provide a series of free training courses that will help people move back into work.
The ‘Moving on into Work’ courses will help people to build confidence by identifying the key skills they possess and how to use them to impress employers.
Experts will provide advice on how to prepare an eye-catching CV and offer guidance on what to include in a covering letter.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about how volunteering and work experience can lead to paid employment, as well as how this will impact on any benefits they may receive.
The course will also help local people to polish their interview skills and will provide advice on how to thrive in the workplace after getting a new job.
Cllr Christopher Snowling, Cabinet Member for Health and Community, said: “If you’ve been away from the workplace for a while, maybe to care for your children who are now ready to go to school, returning to work may seem a little daunting,
“However, there really is nothing to worry about and these courses can help you to get ready for work in no time.
“Expert advisers can help you to update your CV and make the most of the skills you offer to potential employers.
“They will help you to find the hidden jobs that many people miss and will give you valuable tips about how to do well at a job interview.
“All the courses are free so call now to book a place at a location near you.”
Moving on into Work courses will be held across Mid Sussex over the next few months, with sessions taking place in Burgess Hill, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Hurstpierpoint.
A free crèche will be available at every location.
The first of the five week courses to take place will be at the Sidney West Children and Family Centre in Burgess Hill. Sessions will be held from 9.30am until 11.30am on Fridays from September 12 until October 10.
