Hickstead lorry incident leads to M23 arrests

Two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference and going equipped to steal after they were stopped by police on the M23 near Gatwick.

Police have received a report that a lorry’s fuel cap had been interfered with while parked at Hickstead on the A23 on Thursday 21 February at 6.50pm. The suspects had made off in a van.

Officers spotted a van matching the description on the M23 and stopped it at 10.05pm and the driver and passenger, two 17-year-old males from Surrey were arrested.

They have been questioned and released on bail until 23 March.
