Homes across Burgess Hill were left without water last night (September 29) after a water mains burst.
The burst was discovered in Royal George Road at around 10.30pm.
Engineers from South East Water were sent to fix the issue and water has now been restored to homes.
Tony Hillocks, distribution manager for South East Water, said: “We were alerted to a burst on 12 inch diameter water mains in Royal George Road at about 10.30pm last night.
“Our technicians were at the scene as quickly as possible and were able to reroute supplies around the network.
“However, some properties were without water while this was carried out and we would like to apologise for the inconvenience this caused.
“We take the issue of leaks very seriously, with teams working around the clock to stop water being wasted on our 14,500 kilometres network of underground pipes.”
