The Lions are not unfamiliar with books, after all they sell around 50,000 a year in their second hand book shop known as The Book Den.

Lions shop manager John Gee was reportedly ‘taken aback’ when Andrew Hair, leader of Hurstpierpoint Gymnastic Club, a youth organisation adopted by the Lions, requested the kind idea.

The Lions gave Andrew the freedom of their shop and he was able to select 350 books to send over to the children.
