A Happy New Year to you all, and I hope after an enjoyable Christmas you are ready for all that 2016 has to offer! Any resolutions decided yet? I have done various giving ups, so this year for a change I am going to do something positive. I am supporting the shops in our High Street and also buying where possible fruit and veg produced by our farmers in the UK.

PANTOMINE this festive season by The Players is The Wizard of Oz, and if you have not been to see it yet there is still time, as it will run until 9 January. Tickets are from Vanilla in the High Street from 9.30am to 5pm or phone 01273 834506.

HURSTPIERPOINT AFTERNOON CLUB for their first meeting of the year hosted our famous local historian Ian Nelson. Advance notice is given of their Committee meeting on Friday 22 January at 10.30am at the Methodist Church, when anyone can go to find out about being a member and helping to organise entertaining future events, like this one was.

VILLAGE CINEMA’S opening film of the year is Intouchables (PG). An irreverent but uplifting French comedy about friendship, trust and human possibility, based on a true story between a handicapped millionaire and his street smart ex-con carer, which was a big hit the year it came out. On 14 January, tickets from Mishon Mackay or online from the website.

CHRISTMAS TREES are recycling now in the car park. Take yours along for eco disposal.

GOODBYE to The Mint House, which closed on Christmas Eve, and thanks to the team there for providing an interesting shop and colourful window displays that enticed inside. Also to The Leaping Hare closing on the same day.
