HURST CINEMA: this Friday has Tale of Tales (15) at 7.30pm. This is a European dark fantasy film, starring Salma Hayek, Vincent Cassel and Toby Jones. A screen adaption based on three of a collection of stories by a Baroque Neapolitan poet, which include some of the earliest versions of well known childrens' fables, and told in a mad fragmented mix of black comedy. NSPCC: is holding an entertainment evening with Sam Nixon & Friends at Danny House Friday 24 March at 8pm. HURSTPIERPOINT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: Spring Show and Plant Sale takes place this year on Saturday 25 March in the Village Centre at 2.15pm. Daffodils, spring flowers, floral art, cookery, photography and a children’s section. Bargain plants, homemade cake and tea, raffle and the famous auction. Exhibiting is free and open to all. STORIES OF HOLY TRINITY: this month has a talk by John Norris on The Stained Glass Windows of the church. Saturday 25 March at 11am at Holy Trinity Church.

RNLI QUIZ NIGHT: The Hurstpierpoint & District branch have another of their popular fun evenings on Saturday 25 March. Teams of up to six are invited to go along and pit their wits against the Quiz Master John Wilkinson. A cash bar will operate and there will be a raffle with some great prizes. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets include a Ploughman’s supper and are available from Mishon Mackay, Orion News in Hassocks or any of the committee members.

THE PLAYERS: production this spring is The Regina Monologues by Rebecca Russell and Jenny Wafer and starts on 28 March and runs until 1 April. The writers have transposed the stories of the six wives of Henry VIII to the present day, with 6 women sharing the most intimate, hysterical and sad stories and memories about the one man they have in common.
