Leaflet campaign against fare rises
Labour Party members have leafleted commuters outside Burgess Hill Railway Station calling for a cut in rail fares.
They also want train operators to be run as ‘not for profit’ companies, like the East Coast railway.
Burgess Hill Labour Party’s co-chair, Linda Gregory, said: “I have been commuting to London for the past 30 years and during that time I have seen no improvement whatsoever in an expensive, overcrowded, dirty and habitually late train service.”
Labour says fares have risen by an average of 40 per cent since 2008 - oustripping average pay increases.
