Leisure lovers received a treat at Oathall School exhibition

Those who always said that there is nothing to do in Haywards Heath were proved wrong by the Leisure 1982 exhibition at Oathall School.

Every possible leisure activity from flower arranging and pottery to county dancing and sub-aqua diving was featured throughout this exhibit, and the general opinion of 3,500 or so visitors was: “I didn’t know so much went on in Haywards Heath.”

It was the fifth exhibition of it’s kind and was organised by Haywards Heath Rotary Club in conjunction with the towns adult education centre.

There were two sided to the exhibition: a wide range of educational, cultural and practical courses available from the adult education service and a comprehensive cross section of the hobbies and interest which flourish in the area in private associations and clubs.

The Rotary Club began by inviting various clubs in the area to take part and some of the adult education classes to take part and the following year the adult education service joined forces to organise the event.

“It has been a super partnership,” said Mr Mike Tester, the principal of Haywards Heath’s adult educational centre. “We believe that we have come up with a very successful formula.”
