We are delighted to announce that local artist Simon Meakin is opening his studio on Black Hill, Lindfield for the day. You must visit to marvel at his amazing sacred mandalas. They are truly magnificent and wonderful pieces of art.

The Book Activist has brought some excellent authors to the Festival for the first time, for example: Rose McGinty, Michael Smith, Eve Ainsworth, Nikki Sheehan and Jill Lewis, and they are kindly sharing their knowledge and expertise with children and adults on different topics. There will also be creative writing sessions with Inkpots and story telling with Mr Dilly’s World of Wonder. “B is for Book “will be a fascinating session for adults who are interested in their children learning to read.

The King Edward Hall always showcases local artists who have extraordinary talents in making crafts and painting pictures. Whilst you are admiring their arts you will be able to have some refreshments from the Lindfield Bonfire Society. Their home-made cakes are legendary.

Lorna Collins, a dramatic soprano, is just one of the performers who will be entertaining you in the United Reform Church. The programme of concerts includes Rok Skool groups, InChoir and of course the Mid Sussex Sinfonia along with the Weald Ukulele Players and Singers, who I am reliably informed are most amusing and encourage sing-a-longs. The Stand Up, Red Lion and Paulinos also have bands playing in the evening. There will be some buskers as well, look out for our local Lucy!

Lindfield Country Market: Every Thursday in the King Edward Hall from 10-11.15am.There is now plenty of freshly picked seasonal local fruit and vegetables coming in for sale. Apples, Victoria plums, green beans, tomatoes and more. In addition the usual array of tempting cakes and biscuits, including gluten free and savoury items. Keep your eyes on this column for news of craft classes this autumn…

Saturday 10th September: Lindfield Horticultural Society Autumn Show. 2pm in the King Edward Hall. Lovely cakes, tea/coffee on sale as well as plants. This is,perhaps, the best of the 3 annual shows. Wonderful plants, flowers, fruit and veg. all beautifully arranged. There is bound to be an enormous pumpkin too. Last year it took 4 men to lift it! Come along and enjoy. Admission £1, Children free.

The Civic Amenity freighters: will be in the Tollgate car park on Sunday 11th September for the collection of household and garden waste. Please do not leave rubbish in the absence of the freighters.

Tiger Arts: 12.15pm lunch in Lindfield URC. 1pm concert : Ali Steynor – piano.

Village Film Night: Thursday 22nd September in the King Edward Hall . The film is “Florence Foster Jenkins” starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant. Doors open at 7.30pm. Film starts at 7.45pm. Tickets at £6 are on sale at Tufnells.

Adur Concert Band: Saturday 24th September at 7.30pm in the King Edward Hall. Licensed Bar.Tickets are £10 (under 16s £5) from Tufnells Home or St Peter and St James Shop, Lewes Rd. Also available on the door.

Haywards Heath Music Society: 75th Season Opening Concert on Saturday 24th September. ( Alexei Grynyuk (piano). 7.45pm at St Wilfred’s Church, Haywards Heath.

Lindfield Artists Charity Showcase: This is now open in the Orchards Shopping Centre in Haywards Heath. There are well-known artists taking part this year at the Art for Headway exhibition. If you are in the Orchards do pop in as this is such a worthwhile cause and you will see some fantastic art.
