Lindfield Arts Festival: There's still time to win a set of books by the children's authors visiting the Arts Festival this year! We're offering children aged between 7-13 that chance if they write a short story (500-1500 words) or a poem.(no more than 40 lines) Theme: in celebration of the arrival of the railway to the area 175 years ago the theme for your entry must be trains! Festival Day 17th September, starts at 10am with the High Sheriff of West Sussex being greeted by stilt walkers and opening the Festival. From then on be amazed, thrilled and marvel at the circus troupe, dancers and buskers. Watch concerts and performances, attend workshops or classes and enjoy the refreshments in the King Edward Hall provided by the Lindfield Bonfire Society after you have admired the arts and crafts.

The Lindfield Arts festival programme is very inclusive offering a wide variety of things to do to suit all ages and most of them are free. Tickets for the Mid-Sussex Sinfonia concert, Burlesque and African Drumming workshop are on sale in SWALK. All other reservations for places at workshops and shows need to be made online. Somers Vintage Tea Rooms: Now where is that? You may remember Fika. This is now the new name for Lindfield’s delightful tea rooms on the High Street opposite the Post Office/Martins. The ladies are lovely, the food and drinks are lovely. There is a very attractive menu and all the cakes are homemade. The chocolate brownies are to die for! You can have breakfast till 12noon and there are lunches from 12-3pm. Then afternoon tea is served. Somers can cater for small private parties, functions and parties. They can provide homemade cakes for any occasion. Opening hours are: Sundays 8.30-3pm. Tuesdays-Saturdays 8.30-5pm. Closed Mondays. There is free wi-fi. I am typing this on a Monday which means, sadly, that I cannot have my morning coffee there, but tomorrow is another day!

Mobile Library: Every Friday in Lindfield. Compton Road from 12.15-13.15 and on the Common 14.00-15.30.
