LINDFIELD EVENING W1: Our WI March meeting started with a very interesting talk by Tony Turner about an Edwardian parachutist called Dolly Shepherd. Her exciting life included jumping from hot air balloons, without harness or helmet, but waving a little Union Jack as she descended. Despite her dare devil parachute jumps she survived and lived to be 96. In 1976, a few years before her death, she flew with the Red Devils. Members also enjoyed being challenged by a March quiz. Future activities include a March Supper club and an invite to join with Ardingly WI for their Spring Supper. In addition to a cleverly themed raffle, this month a special bursary for a course at Denman College was drawn. At our 14th April meeting we will be discussing the Resolutions that go forward to the National Federation AGM for adoption as national campaigns and hearing from a researcher and writer of women’s history.

Reminders: Collection of household and garden waste on Sunday March 20th at the Tollgate Car Park from 10-noon. Please do not leave rubbish in the absence of the freighters.
