Lorry crashes into railway bridge in Haywards Heath
A lorry crashed into the railway bridge over Bannister Way in Haywards Heath today.
Police arrived to assist the lorry driver reverse away from the area whilst railway engineers checked the bridge for damage.
Witness Gary Smith said: “The lorry was too high for the bridge and hit it at full pelt.”
“It blocked the traffic, the cars around couldn’t move, and it caused quite a bit of damage to the lorry.”
Southern Railway said that after the collision trains were delayed for up to 20 minutes.
