A man was assaulted outside his own home in Hurstpierpoint, police said.

The man, in his mid 20s, returned to his home in the village on his moped at around 9pm on Sunday, September 16.

While he was getting something out of the storage box on his moped he was ‘approached and pulled backwards’, police said.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted outside of his Hurstpierpoint home.

“The victim, a man in his mid-20s, returned home to his home in Kemps, Hurstpierpoint at around 9pm on Sunday, September 16, on his moped.

“While he was getting something out of the storage box on the vehicle he was approached, pulled backwards and suffered a facial injury which required hospital attention.

“The suspect was described as about 6ft 2in, of average build and was wearing a coat with the hood up.

Sussex Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area at this time.
