A man arrested on suspicion of causing two deaths by dangerous driving has been given further bail by police.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “A 20-year-old man from Lindfield, arrested on suspicion of two counts of death by dangerous driving following a collision at Handcross on December 17 has had his bail varied until March 3.”
Matthew Preece, 21, from Lindfield, and Marc Martin, 22, from Haywards Heath, were passengers at the time of the crash. They both died in hospital from their injuries.
Sussex Police said the men had been sitting in the back of the BMW when it struck a tree and flipped on its roof on High Beeches Lane just after 10pm.
The families and friends of both men paid tribute to Marc and Matt.
A front seat passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Haywards Heath, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
