Marking Olympics with song

Barnham-based songwriter Robin Mayhew has recruited the young talent for his new song marking next year’s Olympic Games in London. Robin wrote the song Refuse To Lose, a musical project for schools and colleges to coincide with the Games. And he has now found his vocalists. Robin said: “The first meeting with the four singers went extremely well with a lot of smiles and good spirit. It was a most enjoyable hour at Ford Lane Studios and the owner and star engineer, Rob Quickenden, was most hospitable. “Besides the four singers, Rebecca Cooke, the Chichester-based music and singing teacher, kindly came along and has offered to help the girls with their parts should they need it. “When we have rehearsed and got the track to vocal perfection, the next step will be to record it, then a mixing and mastering session to finish the song. All being well this should be done by the end of April or possibly the first week of May. We will then start work on three other songs which will be released along with Refuse To Lose, Refuse To Lose being the single from the resulting EP.” Robin admitted he was struggling with a name for the group. He’s keen for people to visit the website www.refuse-to-lose.co.uk and email any ideas. The singers are: Adelle Tracey, aged 18 in May, of Godalming, “Amongst many titles she is the National Under 20 Girls 800m Champion. She has also competed for Great Britain as an 800m athlete and taken a silver medal at the European Youth Olympics, Her goal is to compete for Great Britain in 2016 Olympic Games. Besides being a talented athlete she has always performed, dancing, singing and acting.
