Eyewitnesses told the Herald & Gazette that the woman was trying to squeeze between a Virgin Media lorry parked on the pavement and the BP garage wall in Brighton Road, Worthing, shortly after 9.30am.

An eyewitness said: “It basically took the whole pavement up. This little old lady was trying to get through. She got so far she got wedged between the wall and the lorry.

“We waited for the guy to come out the shop. When he came out he was really unapologetic and didn’t say sorry once. The lady was really shaking.”
