New county council chief executive announced

London Borough of Croydon CEO Nathan Elvery is set to be the next chief executive of West Sussex County Council.

The announcement was made by the county council today.

Council chairman Pat Arculus said: “We can confirm that, subject to the normal checks, Nathan Elvery has been offered the role of chief executive at West Sussex County Council.

“Mr Elvery is currently the chief executive officer at the London Borough of Croydon.

“It is anticipated his appointment will be confirmed at the Full Council meeting on April 15.”

Mr Elvery, who had previously held roles at Westminster City Council and at the Greater London Authority, joined Croydon Council as director of finance in 2004.

He became the council’s interim chief executive in 2013, and was given the role permanently in the following year.
