NEW MAYOR of Cuckfield Lesley Seabrook took "bribery and corruption" to new heights in the village's annual election.

Lesley, seen here in full regalia, raised 6,200 to win the election, in one of the most successful year's ever in the self-appointed Independent State of Cuckfield.

The election, which pride itself on using bribery and corruption in the best possible way to raise money for good causes, was contested by Lesley, standing for the Young People of Cuckfield, Guy Sibley for the White Harte and Ady Stenning for the Rose and Crown. Last year's mayor Michele Ward also stood again as part of the tradition.

All together the election raised 9,700 for village organisations and charities.
