East Sussex operation grows

I have from time-to-time told you about our work in East Sussex.

Chestnut Tree has provided a service in East Sussex since we opened our doors 11 years ago, but with the House being situated in West Sussex, we do see more children from this area.

However, the nurses based in East Sussex are becoming increasingly busy, particularly providing end of life care in families’ own homes.

This has taken a considerable amount of additional resource but has allowed the families to keep their children at home during their last hours.

Owing to the increased demands for our services from East Sussex, we decided to set up an office there. At first we used a shared office, but very quickly we needed more space, so we found an office of our own.

This grew and now we have two offices in Eastbourne, and 9 staff who are responsible for providing all aspects of Chestnut Tree care. This care can come in many different forms.

Recently, one of the families who we help in Eastbourne needed a new car seat for their child, but it was going to cost £1,700 for the specialist seat. Their community nurse helped them complete an application for funding which was successful and means that that their daughter can now travel in safety with the rest of the family.
