Our Bright Future - Haywards Heath neighbourhood plan consultation launched

Haywards Heath Town Council formally adopted its draft Neighbourhood Plan for consultation at a meeting of the full council last Thursday (January 30).

Mayor cllr Mrs Sandy Ellis said: “We are keen to let all residents know about the draft plan and most importantly promote how local people can get involved in shaping the bright future of Haywards Heath.

“This is an excellent town in which to live, work and be part of.

“It’s our Town’s positive spirit we are looking to encourage, and during this consultation gain feedback or ideas on the draft Neighbourhood Plan as we continue the process of looking proactively at the town’s next 20 years.”

The draft Neighbourhood Plan and its associated documents can all be found on the Town Council’s website at www.haywardsheath.gov.uk/Neighbourhood-Plan-.aspx

The web pages will be updated regularly with event dates and highlighting opportunities for face to face feedback with Council Officers and Councillors.

Cllr Michael Pulfer, leader of Haywards Heath Town Council said: “This document is about shaping a bright future for our town.

“We want the local community to see the draft plan and give their vital input into the document and the important policies it contains.

“We have been through a significant process of initial consultation commencing in July 2011.

“We have received and therefore included highly valued local knowledge and expertise in this draft plan.

“We welcome the opportunity to look at and plan together for the next 20 years for our town.”

The first opportunity to meet councillors and feedback is this Saturday (February 8) at the draft plan consultation launch at The Dolphin Leisure Centre between 10am to 2pm.

This is the starting point for a six week consultation which is set to run until the March 23, 2014.

Town Clerk, Steve Trice, said: “We are asking residents, business owners and all those with a keen interest in Haywards Heath to please use this opportunity to feedback to us.

“During this consultation there will be various opportunities to find out more about the draft plan, speak with town councillors and officers and we welcome residents and the wider community to of course use the opportunity to make written representation to us.”

Residents are also invited to pop into the Town Hall between 10.30am and 2.30pm on Mondays and between 12pm and 4pm on Fridays during the consultation period.

Officers will be on hand to discuss the draft plan and those with specific questions are asked if possible to arrange a time in advance so all matters can be covered.
