A spokesman for Burgess Hill Town Council said: “Burgess Hill town centre will be buzzing with festive fun and entertainment for all the family.

“This year marks the 60th anniversary of Paddington Bear. To celebrate, Paddington will be making personal appearances at intervals throughout the day at the bandstand and will be switching on the lights.

“There will be festive fun for all the family including a free ice rink, children’s amusement rides, giant snow globe, music and entertainment, Santa’s sleigh, plus lots more.”

Burgess Hill District Lions are supporting this year’s event.

Youngsters can also visit Santa in his grotto at Burgess Hill Radio in Church Walk between 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm.

Entry costs £4 and each visit will include a present, a chance to talk to Santa and an opportunity to take photos. All proceeds will go to Woodlands Meed School.

Children aged ten and under are invited to take part in a fancy dress competition. There is no theme, entrants just need to turn up at the bandstand at 4.30pm for the judging.

There will be a category for under 5’s and 5-10’s, the winner from each will get to switch on the lights with Paddington.

Parking is free after 1pm in the Martlets multi-storey, Church Road and Cyprus Road short stay car parks on the day of the event.
