The club usually holds three car boot sales a year at Burgess Hill Academy, in Station Road, during Easter and the late May and August bank holidays.

The Easter Monday car boot sale was also cancelled.

Jack Bennett, secretary, said: “Following on from the cancellation of Easter Monday Car Boot Fair we have decided, that with the present situation as it stands, to cancel the one planned for Monday, May 25.

“To all our sellers and buyers, we feel that in the interest of public safety, with self distancing being one of the main reason that the number of deaths is slowly declining, that we should let you know now rather than later.

“We sincerely hope that we will be able to hold the one planned for August 31.”
