Burgess Hill group Christmas Wishes in its seventh year of supporting families

Christmas Wishes aim to help as many people as possible over Christmas, and runs a toy appeal every year.

This year, the organisers have made their own giving tree at their headquarters in Maple Drive, Burgess Hill.

Rosh Mead, one of the organisers, said: “We have tags on the tree which you can collect in a Covid-friendly manner, which have a child’s name, age and interests on.

“You can then bring the present back to put in our toy appeal box.

“We’ve created an Amazon wish list with gifts for all our families and so far had an incredible response from the public.”

Rosh works with Petrina Wickens and Avril Smith to organise Christmas Wishes.

As well as presents, they are organising gift parcels for elderly people – a nomination page is on the group’s website for people to nominate anyone who they think would benefit.

Christmas Wishes is also taking nominations for a local hero hamper, with both an adult and child category, for ‘anyone who has gone above and beyond’ this year, whether by helping people in the community or raising money for charity.
