The Burgess Hill Academy says it has reviewed its risk assessments to protect pupils, staff and the local community - and is looking forward to welcoming back pupils.

A spokesman for the school said: “Last night’s announcement by the Prime Minister regarding schools reopening on Monday 8 March has been on the table for some time.

“As a Multi-Academies Trust looking after a family of 15 academies across Sussex, we have remained open to children of critical workers and children identified as vulnerable throughout the pandemic.

“We have continued to review our risk assessments during the recent lockdown and have rolled out LFT (lateral flow tests) within our school community to ensure we are doing all we can to protect our pupils, our staff and the local community we serve.

“We are looking forward to welcoming all our pupils back into the classrooms when restrictions begin to ease.”
