Cuckfield community comes together to save annual nativity

The nativity had to be moved at the last minute because of bad weather.

Cuckfield came together last night (Wednesday, December 19) to make its annual nativity a ‘special, meaningful occasion’.

The nativity is usually outside, but had to be moved into Holy Trinity Church because of bad weather.

Dorcas the donkey made her debut courtesy of Janet Knight of Hillmans Farm, Twineham, who also brought three of her rare breed White Faced Woodlands sheep.

Paula Rosa from Manhattan Furniture supplied cardboard to line the church floor with and the church community made hot fruit punch and mince pies

Helen Swift, family minister, said: "It was a beautiful but slightly chaotic live nativity at Holy Trinity, inside the church (it’s usually outside) because of the dismal weather.

"Everyone felt it brought the story to life and for a brief time we could feel and smell what it must have been like 2000 years ago when God wrote himself into his own story and Jesus was born."
