Kate Roche and Sophie Johnson threw a fundraising Passion for Fashion sale in The Talbot pub in Cuckfield, inviting those looking for pre-loved fashion to grab a bargain.

The sale was held in support of Rockinghorse children’s charity, the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton.

Around 160 people attended the event to browse and partake in a glass of bubbly, helping to raise more than £4,000 for Rockinghorse in the process.

Kate said: “We chose to raise money for Rockinghorse because as parents both Sophie and I have experienced first-hand the invaluable services this charity provides.

“They work tirelessly to help ensure all children’s experience of hospital is as comfortable as possible and can even be fun.

“We are honoured to have been able to raise money to contribute towards such an amazing cause.”

Rockinghorse has been supporting sick and disadvantaged children in Sussex for more than 50 years.

Lucy Pond, the challenge events fundraising manager at Rockinghorse, said: “Kate and Sophie have really pulled off something special with this event.

“Seeing the amount of contributions that people have made along with the turnout just goes to show how passionate people are about new clothes and supporting our work at Rockinghorse.

“As a small charity it’s the support from local people, taking their own time to organise fundraising events, that really make the difference to the support we are able to provide. A massive thank you to Kate and Sophie.”
