The treasure hunt, which took place on Sunday, August 16, was tennis themed objects and people in Cuckfield shop windows and around the village.

Douglas Mower, from the club, said: “For the second year running the Batchelor family won with a score of 34/40.

“Well done to them and all the other families who joined us.

“The hunt took place in Cuckfield village with teams answering two sets of questions, the first on local Cuckfield landmarks and the second on pictures of famous tennis players which had been placed in the local shop windows.

“The club is grateful to all the local shops for their support – Jo Jo, Artologie, Marcus Grimes, PJ and The Hare, The Natural Dog Grooming Company, Edit, Tom’s Food, Pepperbox, Cuckfield Bathrooms, Hairsmiths, Cuckfield I Wear, Corner House Café and Neilsons.”

After the treasure hunt, members of the club played family tennis and had a socially distanced picnic.

The tennis club’s delayed annual general meeting is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, with a fallback date of Saturday, September 19, dependent on the weather, starting at 2pm.

It will take place on the tennis courts to ensure everyone remains appropriately socially distanced. There will be the usual social tennis after the meeting.
