Hassocks resident pens poem thanking Mid Sussex waste crews: ‘You are simply the best’

A Hassocks resident penned a poem to our wonderful waste crews working hard during the coronavirus pandemic leaving them delighted.

It reads: “I have a full up refuse bin, dispose of it I must, no problem in my younger days but now I’m 80 plus.

“Thankfully on Mondays, arriving on the scene, the Mid Sussex Lads with their special waste machine.

“Not phased by snow or wind or rain, a job well done is their sole aim.

“And now in this unprecedented time, our heroes are putting their all on the line.

“Our thanks to you, and all the rest, no other words for it, you are simply the best.

“Take care, lads.”

In response, Serco driver Louis Cummings, on behalf on Mid Sussex District Council, said: ”We are overwhelmed with the support, the letters and posters of thanks from the residents it is very much appreciated. And thank you for keeping your distance.”
