Staff share students’ disappointment about the unexpected end to their school career and the lack of an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in exams, she added.

Rev Millwood said: “During the day students will be meeting their tutor for a socially distanced transition meeting to ensure each individual has an opportunity for a personal conversation about the future.

“We are very aware of the anxiety they feel about their grades and how they have been awarded.

“We firmly believe that they have acquired additional skills through this time by overcoming adversity which will further equip them for future challenges and are confident that they will each progress to achieve great things in a whole host of different ways.”

The school has missed the opportunity to come together today to share in students’ success, but hopes to be able to come together later in the year to celebrate , she added.

Rev Millwood said: “For now, we wish them well as they step out into the future be it starting university, apprenticeships or entering the world of work.

“They go with our love and our blessing, in the certain knowledge that each one has a great deal to give to the world and the capacity to make a positive difference.”
