Esther Featherstone, who lives in Lindfield, hopes this challenge will become an annual January challenge with her son, Noah, six.

She said: “With all my clients they run, and I always feel like a hypocrite that I don’t run with them.

“I thought, I need to do this run to inspire and motivate my clients.

“Over the summer I ran with Noah, and then when school started up again we’d run together before school.

“It was always really fun, and we had good chats.

“Noah’s very athletic, and I think it’s good for him to know you need to keep fit and eat healthily.

“Local charities like Time 4 Children are brilliant and doing charity work is important, which is important for him to learn.

“It’s a good challenge on both parts.”

Esther, who runs Swoove classes, held a 40 hour ‘Swooveathon’ in 2019 and Noah took part for an hour to raise money for his school and charity.

She said how he picks money up if he sees it on the floor outside to put in the charity boxes in shops.

Esther said: “We run every day, at least, because we didn’t want the rain to put us off and not do it.

“The more we do it, the more I’m enjoying it.

“Round here, living in Lindfield, it’s so easy to look at the countryside and have a bit of escapism while running.”

The pair are ahead of their challenge already, and have plans to extend their distances if they reach their goals before the end of the month.

Esther said: “It’s a fun thing to do, we have such a lovely bond.

“He’s an incredibly lovely boy and very inspirational to me, he motivates me.

“To have a love for anything that’s good for you can only be good.”
