The University of Brighton Academies Trust said West Sussex County Council have agreed to support Lindfield Primary Academy in hosting a temporary bulge year to accommodate the increased demand for places. The academy will be moving to a 4 Form Entry level academy in September 2021 for the next two years.

Alongside welcoming 30 new children into the academy, the development will further support the community by improving academy facilities. Two new classrooms will be provided, and the IT and music suites will undergo a full refurbishment – this will include upgrading existing desktop computers to mobile laptops. The community will also benefit from refreshed toilet facilities and extra play spaces for children to enjoy.

Graham Olway, assistant director of education and skills at West Sussex County Council, added: “We really appreciate the hard work of the academy trust, school staff and officers at the county council who are working in partnership to ensure Lindfield children can attend their catchment school.

“This is a good example of cross-organisational working to provide the best for the children and young people of this popular village as it grows and develops.”

Dr John Smith chief executive of The University of Brighton Academies Trust, said he was very pleased with the outcome.
