A Mid Sussex school has closed after a number of pupils and teachers tested positive for coronavirus.

Manor Field Primary School in Junction Road, Burgess Hill, decided to close following advice from Public Health England.

A spokesman for West Sussex County Council said: “Following advice from Public Health England we can confirm Manor Field Primary School in Burgess Hill has taken the decision to close, following a number of confirmed cases across year groups and teaching staff.

“We are working closely with the school, alongside The Department for Education and Public Health England, and have procedures in place to support the reopening of the school after the Christmas break.

“All parents and carers have been informed and we appreciate their cooperation and understanding.”
