Travellers ‘forced open’ locked Horsham Park gates

Travellers camped in Horsham Park ‘forced open’ locked gates to gain entry, the council said.

In a statement, Horsham District Council said it is working with Sussex Police and West Sussex County Council’s traveller liaison team to remove the vehicles through the ‘appropriate legal processes’.

A spokesman added: “The council can confirm that the North Parade entrance to Horsham Park was locked but the gates were forced open.

“The council has put measures in at other potential sites to prevent unwanted entry, where it is appropriate to do so.”
