Why Horsham is a blooming great place to live

And that’s official - because Horsham has been named one of the best places in Britain for gardens and garden centres.

New research by the card firm Flowercard has listed Horsham at fifth place in gardening hotspots throughout the UK.

The town is beaten to the No 1 spot by the City of London, followed by Blackley in Greater Manchester, City of Westminster, and Oldham in Greater Manchester. Horsham achieved its ranking because, researchers say, it has two public gardens, eight florists, 16 garden centres and has won Britain in Bloom.

And, they say: “Horsham is the king of the garden centre with more than 3.5 per square mile.”

A spokesman for Flowercard said: “The UK has something of a love affair with all things flowers and gardens. From manor house gardens to garden centres, we love all that blooms.

“We decided to find out which parts of the UK are the best for those with a green thumb by looking at the number of public gardens, florists, garden centres and even how many Britain in Bloom awards each town or city has won.”

Horsham was ranked above Perth, Blackley in Greater Manchester, Harrogate in North Yorkshire and Oldham in Lancashire. for people who love flowers.
