“Only three years ago I took the difficult decision to leave my career in the travel industry – 18 years with British Airways – to look after my young children (daughters Isla and Annie).

“It was at that point, I started to learn photography and set up my own small business.

“I could never have imagined that I would receive such fantastic recognition in such a short space of time.”

The Guild of Photographers runs an online monthly photographic competition, attracting more than 13,500 entries throughout 2019.

From these entries, the Guild’s judges selected ten images in various genres to go forward to the annual Image of the Year final.

Louise said: “There are so many talented photographers in my field. To have been recognised by the Guild is a major compliment and has exceeded anything I could have expected.

“I spend a lot of time working on every portrait. This recognition makes the effort completely worthwhile.”

The competition outcome is set to be announced on February 1.

Guild Director Lesley Thirsk said: “One of the Guild’s aims is to drive standards and creativity amongst photographers.

“Our competition certainly does that, for the standard of the entries we see each month is quite staggering.

“To have an image recognised by the Guild in the monthly competition is difficult enough, so to have an image selected as being one of the best in a category for the end of year final is without doubt an incredible achievement, and shows just how talented photographer, Louise is.”
