The Yews is a multi-purpose community building in the heart of Haywards Heath on Boltro Road.

The centre is run by a charitable social enterprise and offers a range of rooms and catering facilities to let.

The work of the Yews community centre has been captured on camera by local photographer, Louise Ferguson.

Centre manager, Shirley Wechsler said: “Louise spent three days documenting some of the activities of this treasured community asset, where over 45 groups meet regularly to serve the needs of the town.”

The project captured ‘Bodum Baby Massage and Yoga’ sessions.

It also recorded toddlers singing and dancing at ‘Music Bus’ as well as members of the ‘Embark’ group, for young people with learning needs, building and decorating bird boxes and bug houses for sale at local fayres and markets.

The ‘4 Sight’ lunch club enjoying an interesting talk and a home-cooked meal were also pictured as part of the project.

Ms Ferguson attended the garden party launch of The Yews’ newly refurbished outside space which was attended by many from the wider Yews Community. Featuring safety surfaces, artificial turf and a new seating area, this phase of the renovations was made possible in part by a grant from Mid Sussex District Council.
