JUMBLE SALES: have, for some time, been a very popular way of raising funds for village organisations. However, please can everyone planning a sale note that jumble sale organisation is nothing to do with the Women’s Institute. All the helpers at the jumble sales are simply willing volunteers from the village. From experience a minimum or 30 helpers are required to run the jumble sales in the afternoon and a large number to “sort” jumble in the mornings. Once a booking is made Jane Donovan, the village hall co-ordinator, will give the organiser a plan of the traditional way in which tables are set out (there is also a copy in the main hall) and also a Protocol for running a jumble sale. It is the responsibility of each organisation to ensure they have enough helpers on the day so please bear this in mind in the planning stages and ensure you have enough volunteers for the sale to run smoothly and be successful.

OPEN GARDENS SUNDAY: What an afternoon Sunday June 26 was with the sun shining and nearly two hundred people enjoying the Plumpton gardens and cream teas. Just short of £1800 was raised through all the efforts of the gardeners, the bakers and cake sellers, plant sales and tombola. Plumpton Support Group’s thanks go to all those who participated in whatever role, the Group could not succeed without your continued support. As you are no doubt aware the Hospice needs nearly £8000 a day to run and the Group’s contribution although small is very much appreciated. Their next fundraiser is a Jumble sale on Saturday August 20 at the village hall. This will be followed by The Festive Fair on Saturday November 26, so please put these dates in your diary.
