Taylor Wimpey South Thames has completed the purchase of land off Ockley Lane north of the Clayton Mills development.

The site was included in Mid Sussex District Council’s local plan and a subsequent outline planning application was approved back in February 2020.

This was despite concerns about access arrangements and road safety in Ockley Lane.

The scheme includes land for a primary school, community building and open space.

Taylor Wimpey South Thames says it is now in the process of working up a reserved matters planning application, which will set out the detailed design and layout of the homes.

Adam Lelliott, land and planning director, said: “We are delighted to have completed the purchase of land to the north of Hassocks on Ockley Lane. The desirable Mid Sussex village provides many benefits to the local community, including outstanding schools and a train station with regular services to London and Brighton.

“Benefitting from outline planning permission for 500 units, this is an excellent site for the business and we are looking forward to delivering completions from 2023.”
