In addition to participating in an Oxfam photo shoot outside parliament, Ms Davies visited the Oxfam shop in Haywards Heath to support Second Hand September.

Ms Davies said: “I had really good fun visiting my local Oxfam shop and I have learned about the serious consequences fast fashion is having on our planet.

“I encourage everyone to shop second hand, where fantastic bargains can be found at a fraction of the normal price.

“It is something I do regularly and take me back to my student days – I still love a unique, bargain buy!

“I was concerned to hear how they are struggling to recruit new volunteers due to the health concerns of Covid-19.

“I would urge anyone with the time and opportunity to consider volunteering at their local second hand shop.”

Oxfam’s Second Hand September Campaign aims to demonstrate how people can give their wardrobes a refresh without breaking the bank or resorting to throwaway fashion.

Oxfam says every week 13 million items of clothing end up in UK landfill putting pressure on the planet and its people.

By shopping with Oxfam you can help keep clothes out of landfill and support the charity’s work to ensure the poorest people on the planet can live a fair living, it says.
