The Government wants to deploy thousands of new work coaches in towns across the country to help ensure people have the support they need to get back into work.

Applications opened last week for vacancies in Sussex and close on Wednesday (September 16).

The work coaches will help deliver the government’s new programmes, such as the £2billion Kickstart initiative for young people.

Increased support for 40,000 jobseekers of all ages will also be available through DWP’s sector-based work academy placements which received a £17 million funding boost this summer and will help people learn new skills through a mixture of work experience and training.

Work coaches will also offer vital retraining to people looking to start a new career, and support for those who need to update their skills and CV, or simply prepare for an interview.

Mid Sussex MP Mims Davies, who is also minister for employment, visited Haywards Heath’s Jobcentre on Friday (September 11) to promote the recruitment drive.

She said: “Our DWP work coaches are at the forefront of this economic recovery working every day to help people in Sussex get back on their feet. Seeing that work in action today at Haywards Heath Jobcentre was a reminder of the exceptional value they bring to our community.

“As a work coach you’ll find no two days are the same. Every customer has a different story and your mix of life experience could make a real difference to the people who come to you. Supported by a vast pool of government employment programmes such as our newly launched £2bn Kickstart scheme, you will be directly helping them back to their best.

“By becoming a work coach at this unique time you will be helping to build back an even better Sussex - it’s a rewarding career opportunity and if you think you’re up to the challenge then I want you to apply as soon as possible.”
