New Bolney warehouses to replace former nursery
Plans to build three warehouses on a former nursery site have been approved by Mid Sussex District Council.
The application, for the Marylands site, in Cowfold Road, Bolney, was given the nod at a meeting of the planning committee on Thursday (April 15).
A report to the committee said the site would provide economic and social benefits to the area, bringing jobs during and after its construction.
This was borne out when the meeting was told that a Sussex-based business was already lined up to move into two of the units.
Applicant Robin Barton said: “We have a development here that has the capacity to deliver on what is most needed in the current climate – jobs and investment.”
Two of the units will be housed in one 134m long building, The other building will be 72m long.
Some 103 parking spaces will be included, 12 of which will be charging points, seven disabled bays and nine car sharing bays as well as space for 32 bicycles.
The main access to the site from Cowfold Road will be closed with improvements made to the access road leading off the A272/A23 roundabout.
There were objections from Bolney Parish Council, which felt the plans were overdevelopment and didn’t allow enough space for landscaping to ease the impact of the new buildings.
The application was approved unanimously. To view it, log on to pa.midsussex.gov.uk and search for DM/20/2640.
