Rail services have resumed, though there were still some delays after a man fell on the tracks at West Worthing railway station.
An air ambulance and emergency services rushed to the scene after the incident happened just before 4pm today, Thursday July 30.
The condition of the man, who is thought to have been in a mobility scooter, is currently unknown.
Trains between Brighton and Portsmouth were halted and there were severe disruptions.
The Southern Rail Twitter account confirmed lines had now reopened, although there were still delays into the evening.
Shortly after the incident a spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called at 3.56pm to a report of a man on the tracks at West Worthing railway station. We have attended along with our colleagues from the ambulance services.
“It seems there is a man on the tracks. At the moment it seems he has fallen on the tracks accidentally.
“However, we are still trying to establish the exact details of the incident.”
