Inn on the Green Cabaret Night: True vintage class comes to Scaynes Hill in the form of Lady Vintage on Saturday 7 May at the Inn on the Green. Sabrina, as she is called, sings songs from the 20’s through to the 60’s, including songs from Nat King Cole to Shirley Bassey. The cost of enjoying this show is just £5.00 but to make it extra special you could enjoy a three course meal first for just £25.00. Aren’t we spoilt in Scaynes Hill?

New Houses: All houses in Scaynes Hill should by now have received a letter about a potential outline planning application for 55 new houses on land to the south of the Inn on the Green, which also borders the back of Hillcrest Lane. To find out more go to the website of DMH Stallard, who are representing the developer, Greenplan Designer Homes Ltd before Wed 27th April and comment by Tue 3rd May.

We really are spoilt for choice in Scaynes Hill. For those of you that don’t already know the village also has a very active social club based down Church Road opposite the common. It is a members club but membership is very reasonable and gives its members access to all the club’s facilities, including a Snooker Room. Forthcoming events at the club will be listed next week so watch this space.

The Sloop: After a long refurbishment the Sloop has finally reopened and it was well worth the wait from what I hear. The food is predominantly fresh fish, offering a wide range of dishes although we meat eaters are also catered for. Good luck to Nicky and Gary.

WI: If you have ever wondered about the WI but always thought it may not be for you ... Think again!

They are a friendly group of ladies from all ages and backgrounds who all have different interests and abilities. Some of them even make jam!!! They would love to welcome you to join them. You don’t have to join straight away but can go to at least two meetings to see if it’s for you before you decide whether or not to join. They meet at 2.00pm every second Wednesday of the month and every fourth Wednesday for a craft afternoon, where all abilities are welcome to go along and enjoy an informal few hours, a cup of tea, a chat and some craft. They sometimes arrange to go out to lunch once a month too! Any membership or other questions please call Fiona on 01444 891217 or Sue on 01444 831786
