Southway Primary School pupil named story competition winner

Joshua McMinn from Southway Junior School in Burgess Hill has been chosen as a winner of Sussex based Evonprint's '˜Get Kids Writing' competition and has seen his short story turned into a printed book.

The competition saw entries from primary and secondary schools from across Sussex. All stories demonstrated imagination and creativity, making the judging process extremely difficult for Evonprint, a print, design and marketing specialist.

Joshua, aged eight, won the primary school category with his story ‘Neptune and the Soldier’ and as well as receiving five printed copies of his book, he also won a £50 Amazon voucher and £75 worth of book tokens for Southway Junior School.

Adam Rowland from Evonprint, said: “We’re very passionate about education at Evonprint, so this competition was all about getting children creative by showing off their writing skills. There were some fantastic entries and we had a hard time choosing the winners. I’d like to say huge congratulations to Joshua and thank you to all the children who got involved.”

Two runners up were also chosen in the primary school category – Aaliyah Paige Freeman, aged eight, from West St Leonards Primary School in Hastings, and Rosina Murray, aged 10, from Lindfield Primary Academy in Haywards Heath. The runners-up received a printed copy of their book.
